Thank you to the volunteer crisis response team that gathered today to move one of our unsheltered families into a hotel during the shelter in place. Selfless and compassionate. Thank you!
During the shelter-in-place our case managers have been in close contact with those who are homebound or struggling to get out of their home to shop for groceries. Our crisis response volunteers spent time packing hygiene packs and household goods, then headed out to shop and deliver to single mom’s, seniors, veterans and struggling families. To date, we have served 34 households through our benevolence fund from local faith communities and individual donors. Each week we continue to identify families & individuals in need for our next outreach. Thank you to all our rock star donors and willing volunteers who make this care support possible!
When the shelter-in-place order went in to effect for the Bay Area, we checked-in to see how we could support one of our sheltered participants. Due to the pandemic, her work hours have been cut and she expressed a need for groceries and rental assistance. A CityServe volunteer delivered groceries to the family and her case manager has provided resources for Livermore families struggling to pay rent. She is staying optimistic, applying for additional work, and is very grateful to CityServe. After the groceries were delivered she send a message, “My Daughters were so happy and felt so blessed to have food delivered and keep to store at home! As a single Mother living paycheck to paycheck and trying to pay all bills is not so easy. Our family is so great full for all of the help CityServe and the volunteers have provided us with.”
A special thanks goes out to all the volunteers and donations received during this pandemic, allowing us to reach families like this one.
